The short answer? Anytime you need support. You don’t have to wait until things feel “bad enough” to reach out. Lactation support can be helpful in the early days after birth, when feeding feels painful or stressful, if weight gain is a concern, or anytime you feel unsure about how things are going. It can also be helpful later on for things like pumping, bottle feeding, returning to work, starting solids, or weaning. If feeding doesn’t feel right, that’s reason enough to ask for help.

Not necessarily — but if possible, it’s ideal for baby to be ready to feed when we meet. This allows us to do a weighted feed (weighing baby before and after nursing), which can give us helpful insight into milk transfer at the breast. We don’t want anyone feeling hangry — especially not your baby, so if needed, feel free to offer a small “snack” at the breast or by bottle before your visit.

Yes! After your consult, you’ll receive personalized recommendations based on what we discussed and what we observed during your visit. My goal is for you to leave with a clear plan, practical next steps, and support that actually feels manageable. Depending on your needs, that may include feeding recommendations, pumping guidance, follow-up suggestions, or referrals if needed. You won’t be left wondering what to do next.
